What types of hides do you tan?
We specialise in tanning hides from various animals commonly hunted in Australia, including kangaroos, deer, fox, crocodile, calf, sheep, goat, and emu. If you are looking to tan other exotic animals not mentioned, please contact us to discuss further.

How do I prepare my hide before bringing it to you?
After skinning, lay the hide flat, flesh side up, and cover it with salt (approximately 1kg of salt per kg of skin). Roll the hide up like a sausage, and put it in a fridge to chill – not a freezer.

Can I deliver my hide in person?
Yes, you can bring your hide to our tannery located in Laverton North 3026 during our regular business hours. Please ensure it’s packed securely and labelled with your details.

How long does the tanning process take?
Typically, the tanning process takes between 4 to 8 weeks depending on the animal hide.

What happens if my hide is deemed unsuitable for tanning?
If your hide doesn’t pass our initial inspection, we will notify you.

How do I receive my tanned hide back?
Once tanned, we’ll notify you and provide options for return postage or pickup at our tannery.

Whilst we take every step to ensure the best possible outcome, please note that some factors are beyond our control which can affect the finished product. These can include the condition of the animal before skinning, the preparation, storage, transportation of the hide, and whether it is clean. If not prepared carefully, hair-slip or loss of hair in certain areas can be a common result.
